Sunbeam Country Bakehouse Manual
This machine is a disappointment because I tried it out twice using the French setting for French bread recipe, but after the full baking cycle, I discovered it had stopped at the dough stage both times! I had to take out the dough and form smaller rolls manually, baking at 175 deg centigrade for about 30 mins, yet both times, the loaf turned out hard and dry! Could it be (which I think is unlikely) because I had substituted the original ingredients: eg milk for water, margarine for oil, half bread flour instead of all plain flour?
Sunbeam Australia leader in small appliances including mixers, espresso coffee machines, food processors, kettles, toasters, blenders, juicers and many more cooking. Manual for Sunbeam Country Bakehouse Model BM4600WA I would like to know where to get a manual for my Sunbeam - Sunbeam Kitchen Appliances - Others question.

I also added choc chips as fillings. I've read other customers' reviews/questions, but am surprised that all Sunbeam could do was to advise them to dial a certain number to report the problems/feedbacks/complaints. On the other hand, the only constructive replies/ suggestions have come from concerned readers who are not even obligated to reply! I feel the staff should at least make an effort to approach their own (relevant) departments to investigate and find out the reasons for the failures reported on this website, before getting back to the customers! This is what we in Singapore refer to as No wrong door policy as far as customer service is concerned!
Hence, I look forward to receiving a satisfactory reply or solution (from Sunbeam) to my above question/problem and many other similar ones which have gone unanswered so far. I had another Sunbeam Bread maker prior to this one, and made lots of good bread. In the year since I replaced it with the Compact, I have not had a single loaf of bread cook properly. They rise up then collapse when the cook cycle starts, every single time, regardless of what recipe I'm using.
I follow the instructions exactly. In addition, the display while cooking is confusing to the point of being meaningless. The old one just showed the time until bread time (what else what you want to know?). The new one just seems to show random times nobody cares about. Seriously Sunbeam, you've blown your good reputation with me. After originally having a Breville Bakers Oven, something that was scorned on Product Review(and rightfully so), and having it die, I searched these reviews for my next Breadmaker purchase. And this was it. Cfa 2015 torrent latest version.
I originally wanted a Panasonic but they seemed difficult to find and buy, so I went with this one as it was cheap and available. Well I didn't do my homework too well, and after looking back through the reviews saw where I'd gone wrong. Two things were missing, an offset timer and a loaf size option, something the Breville had.
Loaves now have to be set with the option of me being around to remove them when they're done, otherwise the bread goes soggy. And no matter what volume of ingredients you put in, with no size option, baking, kneading and rising are all the same. Small loaves work well, large loaves are too dense. The kneading blade is perfect and leaves only a slight hole, something it has ten times over the Breville whose kneading blade almost destroyed the bottoms of loaves.
But apart from that, I think its a step sideways and back rather than forward. Recipe times are also out, stating 3:30 hours actually taking 4:30 hours, something that took some getting used to especially when you have to be around. And the with gap, grooves and a kneading blade that takes a lot of patience and fiddling to remove, cleaning the pan to a spotless level of quality is rather difficult. Straight off the bat, I wasn't impressed with this appliance especially when my wholewheat function didn't work either. I took it back to where I purchased it, but they said it was under manufacturers warranty and I'd have to speak with them.
I never got through on Sunbeams customer service line, and their contact feature on their website always had server issues when I'd try to submit my complaint. In the end I just lived with it, and bake everything in French now anyway. + Brilliant machine! Just got mine and I have used it at least once a day to make a variety of breads! I have 5 young kids and we go through mountains so cutting the cost by baking my own! So easy to use, just add ingredients and switch it on and forget about it until it beeps at completion! The kids love the chocolate bread recipe included in the manual!
Saving so much money and having lots of fun experimenting. There is really nothing I dislike about this appliance / model.
It is so simple and no annoying fancy electronics panel that I have to 'learn' - a real plus! Every loaf comes out like the baker's every time without fail and for a fraction of the cost! Love this model and highly recommend! - None whatsoever! I was making previously making bread by hand to avoid all the additives that commercial bread has (such as soy flour and enzymes) to 'improve' the bread.
I eventually got tired of the weekly routine so I got this breadmaker. I used the same recipe as for my hand-made bread and was expecting half decent loaves but was extremely disappointed when my first few loaves rose fine prior to baking then promptly collapsed when the oven started up. After a lot of experimentation in changing the amount of water and trying different cycles, I still could not get anything better than a (soft) brick. Surprisingly, if I used the dough function and baked the bread in a conventional (gas) oven, I would get perfect loaves.
I eventually figured out that these vertical loaf machines depend on the commercial bread improvers to hold the structure of the loaf in the deep pan when the baking starts. I have a strong dislike to adding anything like this to the bread so I did some research on the web and found that Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) can improve bread structure. So, I simply added the strained juice of one orange (90ml) to the water and reduced the water content from 300ml to 240-250ml (for white bread using 500g flour). Now I get fairly good loaves every time with no additives whatsoever.
We got a secondhand Bakehouse compact from Vinnies. Some of the non-stick coating had been scraped off by the paddle but nonetheless it has been making bread for us at the rate of 2-4 loaves a week for the last 4 years without any issues - except when I forget a vital ingredient, like yeast! The tin is a little thin around the paddle area, which is why the non-stick coating had been scraped off - someone had obviously put it down too heavily or leant on it and the bottom had warped slightly so that the paddle scraped the tin. I just pushed/bent the tin back as all was well again. The paddle doesnt make too much of a hole in the loaf so that when slicing you can use most of the bread. Slicing is top-down, you put the loaf on its side so the paddle-hole is at an end, but not an issue.
The bake puts a nice even brown all over the loaf so that there are no parts browner or lighter than others. Its just a good bread maker for quite small loaves - makes loaves about 7-8 slices in size which is perfect for a couple.
Country Bakehouse Gluten Free
+ Easy to use and enough variations in the settings that you can try out a variety of product. It is approved by the celiac association, although I have not tried making gluten free bread yet. I have made spelt (wheat free) bread and it turned out great. Have made about 10 loaves and all have been edible. Also easy to clean, with removable lid and bread pan. Bread slicer that comes with it free is very handy. Beeps loadly a few times during the sessions, which can be annoying if you put it on overnight.
Loaves are a bit wide - so if you slice two slices of bread you are probably eating three normal size pieces. + We had been considering purchasing a bread maker but were not sure whether they would be worth it. We were lucky enough to find one in excellent condition at a garage sale for $15 so thought we would try it and we couldn't be happier! Great loaf size, easy to clean and cheap. The settings are easy to understand and it consistently cooks beautifully every single time.

The crust is light and crispy when toasted and is very moreish. After having one we would buy the same again and pay full price!
- It can be a little noisy when it's in the kneading stage (but then again, they may all make this sound, I haven't had another so have no comparison). + This is an awesome little machine. First loaf was a flop which i kind of expected as the measurements for the laucke white bread mix was ambiguous. After that we swapped to the wholemeal and from the word go never a bad loaf! Then we got the Laucke multigrain mix and it was even better- soft fluffy and all crunchy on the outside. Saves so much money buying bread- I do 2-3 loaves a week.
Haven't tried the white again and won't until I find a properly measured recipe. The small size is perfect for 2 of us and we always have fresh bread. Doesn't have the overnight cook function.
Would be great to wake up to fresh bread. But we chose it for its size so we can't complain. It's just that I make it after work and have to wait up until 10-11pm to get it out. If you leave it in the breadmaker it sweats and loses the crunch you want.
